19 weeks in, 21 to go...

I can't believe that next week we will be halfway there. It has gone so quickly! Before you know it I will be 30 weeks and then the nerves really will be kicking in.

Still no real kicks, I get the occasional flutter and wonder if this is it but no. He's lazy, just like his daddy!

I have my 20 week ob appointment on Thursday, when incidentally I will be 20 weeks! At the stupid ob class I attended the nurse who knew nothing said that the anatomy scans are normally done at 21 weeks in their office so I wonder if I will be going back a week later. So far I have not been too impressed with this office but it's not enough to make me want to move to yet another one. At least not yet!

We'll see how this doctor reacts to my insistence on no epidural. I was really put off by the last doctor's dismissal of my feelings on this so I hope he is not going to be who I end up with on the day. Ugh.

18 weeks and counting...

Today is 18 weeks. Which is 16 more than the number of degrees it is outside, and I'm talking the F kind not the C kind!

I haven't looked up the fruit/veg combo for this week yet but I believe it will be large mango/sweet potato. Pretty colors!

I have been completely obsessing over strollers and car seats over the last few weeks. It is so hard when there are so many out there! Last
time we were given our stroller as a gift so I didn't get too much say, this time around we are buying it ourselves so the decision requires much more consideration.

I think I have finally settled on the Bumbleride Flyer, color to be decided, and the Graco Comfortsport convertible car seat. I love that the Flyer has a reversible handle and a carrycot option, and the convertible car seat has one of the highest safety ratings out there.

Now I just have to make up my mind about cloth diapers!

All the pain, but where's the gain?!

First off let me remind those of you that forgot/don't know/don't care that I ran a half marathon the same month that I became pregnant with this child. Now I'm not claiming to have super-triathlete fitness like some people we know, but I was not exactly lounging around the couch for the last 5 years. So why is pregnancy kicking my butt this time around?!

Luckily I'm still 10lbs down from where I started on the day I found out about the little munchkin. I was 15lbs down but my man-food craving kicked on right about the time the sonographer said it's a boy so it's likely only downhill from here. The sickness is now very manageable on the odd day it comes around, and I still haven't seen the return of the heartburn.

Now here's where it gets fun: I can't walk up the stairs at my house. I can't get out of John's car. I can't even walk around the grocery store. I'm exhausted despite getting a good 9 hours of sleep every night and I can't seem to work up the energy to do anything!

And then to top it all off my bump isn't really any bigger than it was 12 weeks ago, and he still isn't kicking. When is this going to start paying off?!

Turnip meets sweet potato

I think I've figured out the discrepancy - one site tells you the size at the beginning of the week and the other is giving you the end of the week. So I'm guessing that as of today I have a little blue turnip buy the magic of 7 days will reveal a lovely blue sweet potato. In any case it's 17 weeks and 1 day today, and time is moving quickly. I can't really believe that by the time it's Christmas I will be half way. Half way seemed like it took forever last time, but then everything seemed to take forever then when it was all I had to think about!

It's a boy!

I can't really believe it, but it's definitely a boy! Unfortunately I have an anterior placenta so we won't be getting too many great pictures of this one, but he is healthy and happy so far.

Turnip meets avocado?!

This week Babycenter.com says apple and Whattoexpect.com says turnip. In any case, in about 12 hours we should know if it's a pink apple turnip or a blue one...stay tuned...

16 week appointment with my new ob

I met my new ob today for my 16 week appointment. No problems, nice heartbeat, another blood test of course. But they said I have to go an 'OB class', before my next appointment. I have absolutely no clue what kind of a class this is or why I have to go! And it's just me, not John. So bizarre! And they didn't do an ultrasound today so no gender yet. I'm planning to book a private one today so hopefully it's not still too early!

Test results are in and all is well!

I got my test results back today, and I am very happy to announce that everything is A-OK and the baby is fine. What a hard two weeks this has
been, I would not wish this on anyone.

Now I can get down to the real business of being pregnant, which means announcements on Facebook, booking a gender scan and eating all the Dairy Milk I can lay my hands on!

All the As?!

This week it's BabyCenter apple vs Whattoexpect.com avocado. Bizarre!

No test results yet, it may actually be today but most likely mid-next week.

In the meantime morning sickness is back and kicking my butt, and I'm back to falling asleep at 9pm despite the 15 minute lie-in I have managed to add by making my lunch the night before. Oh man!

Keeping it citrus

So Babycenter says lemon and Whattoexpect.com says navel orange. Well at least they are in the same family of fruits this week!

This has been a pretty tough week, waiting for test results that I don't really want to hear. So I'm keeping blog updated to a minimum until I know what's going on. In the meantime enjoy the vitamin c!

Fruit salad!

So - babycenter.com has me at lime this week. Whattoexpect.com has me at peach! So who knows...either way my belly is rather large!

Today I am officially 12 weeks pregnant! Yay!

So far it has been interesting - losing my job, finding a new one at the last minute, trying to fit into my clothes while also trying to look hirable, it's been a challenge!

The nausea is settling down, and my heartburn has said adios. The best thing so far has been being able to drink OJ like it's water, because normally a small glass would have me taking a box of Zantac, but I am fine with it right now.

I also took one of those scam home gender predictor tests, which indicated we are having a boy but apparently the boy results are the least reliable so we'll just have to wait until Christmas I suppose.

May 13th, 2010

Which happens to be Sosi's birthday, so as Erin says it's clearly a great day to be born!
Although knowing my luck it will be May 25th and no sooner. Grr!

A date to aim for

Today I am going for my dating scan. Having a date to actually aim for will probably make this all seem much more real but at least I will have more of an idea of how much longer I have to keep my mouth shut!

It's very hard to keep news like this quiet, particularly during the last days of being surrounded by all of your friends. I definitely hope to stay in touch with all of the people I feel I have grown close to over the last 2 and a half years, hopefully this blog will help with that! The biggest challenge has been that I didn't want to compromise people who may be called upon to give me a reference in the next few weeks. I didn't want to put anyone in that position so I hope they will understand down the line.

In any case in 5 hours time I will have a date, and hopefully a little more peace of mind. Stay tuned for the deets!
